Kellogg's Nutri-Grain

This Kellog's Nutri-Grain commercial was done by JWT, Sydney. It caught my eye because I loved how they focused on the relationship between a son and his mother. JWT connected with their audience on a personal level showing that the product is healthy and will help your child transform from a child to an adult. I loved watching the boy go through each stage of his life, continually growing older and bigger as the commercial continues.

Adidas- Wanna Play?

This particular ad was done by Y& R, Amsterdam. I thought this commercial was cool because it was shot in Amsterdam which I find is an awesome city and I loved the shots throughout the commercial took you around the city. It brought you into the shoe and almost made you run around with them while they kicked the soccer balls around the city. I definitely think that they did a great job on advertising the athletic shoe that Adidas is known as.

Dove

This Dove commercial by Ogilvy & Mather, New York is by far one of my favorite commercials of all time. I respect Ogilvy so much more for airing this commercial. It can be quite controversial because it is going against what our society has essentially become. Looks and appearance have come to dominate the world we live in. This brings out the true and raw side out of what we see advertised today and it stands up against this "perfect image" that the industry has created. It brings out the truth, which I think was a very bold and brave move on their part to which I give them credit for.

Wanna get away? - Southwest Airlines

I've always enjoyed the southwest airline commercials by GSD & M, Austin. I find them to be so funny because their so realistic and casual. It definately gets the point across and relays it's message clearly to the audience. I just thought this commercial was purely entertaining and worth posting.

Cargill- Sea Salt

This commercial by Martin/ Williams is simple but definitely grabbed my attention. I think that it was the sense of family that it created. It wasn't anything fancy or outrageous just simply got their point across which I really liked.

BudLight- "Language of Love"

This Budlight commercial by LatinWorks is just entertaining. It is teaching how to "properly" flirt with the opposite sex and is HILARIOUS.

Clorox

I loved this Clorox commercial by Dieste Harmel & Partners, San Francisco. This company is one of the main Hispanic advertising ad agencies in the United States. I like this commercial because it draws in Clorox's main consumer: moms. It focuses on children and what actually goes though their heads and their moms. This commercial is so realistic, which is why I think it works. Kids are kids and like to go out and play, with that comes getting dirty. I think that this ad agencies approach is very effective in showing a child and their imagination and then Clorox (can get out ANY stains). Showing that they can solve a daily problem for moms with young kids!

SPRINT

For some reason I loved this Sprint Commercial by Goodby Silverstein, San Francisco. I think that it grabbed my attention with the neon lines against the dark background. It had such a childish feel to it, which I enjoyed. It seemed almost mystical in a way.

Adidas- Impossible Field 60

I loved this Adidas commercial by 180 Amsterdam- "Impossible is nothing."It brought together a variety of star athletes, however I do not think that it was to the point of being flashy. I think the dark lightning and intensity of the sport is what really drew me in and made the commercial work. I think this agency did a great job of focusing on athleticism which I think helped sell the product even further to the audience.

Ameriquest commercials

Here are a few Ameriquest commercials by DDB LA. I picked these because I find them so funny and entertaining. They are simple humor, nothing to complicated but they get the point across and definitely entertain their audience.

Absolut Vodka- Be Kayne

This is one of my favorite Absolut ads by TBWA New York. We watched some "In an absolut world" ads in class and I loved this one and wanted to post it!

AMP Energy Drink- "Walk of no shame"

I loved this ad by DDBO New York. The title was the first thing that got me. But overall I think that this commercial was funny, partcially because it definately relates to real life situations. I think everybody will be able to relate to this commercial sometime throughout their life!

Coca Cola- #1

Coca Cola has been a well-respected brand for many years. However, their approach of advertising has changed quite a bit overtime. In the past, Haddon Sundblom led Coke’s ads by featuring Santa Claus as their main voice with a tag line of “things go better with coke.” Coke took over this image to such a great extent that other companies feared December because Christmas became so highly associated with Coke. Nowadays Santa Claus is not associated with Coke to the extent that it once used to be. In general, Coke does a great job of always leaving their audience with a warm and fuzzy feeling after watching an ad. Coke’s ad’s often display generations passing with the message implying that Coke is a classic product that will never die or become a “has been” and in my opinion will always be viewed as #1 to Pepsi.

Volkswagen- Looking back at its history...

Bill Bernbach is the one who made Volkswagen's personality which ultimately made it a success. He is the one who transformed the image of this car from focusing on "glands" to the consumers "brains." With his approach consumers felt as if the company assumed that they were smart and did not feel like they were being "sold" a product. DDB made Volkswagen all about sex and in every ad had a woman posing against the side of a car. Nowadays Volkswagen ads focus on the simplicity of the car rather than focusing on all the features of the car at once. In DDB's Berlin ad featuring two young boys driving an imaginary car with the tag line "Drivers Wanted." Volkswagen also focuses on the safety of the model in accidents such as in the Jetta ads where the tag line is "safe happens." As you can see the contemporary ads of Volkwagen are far different than the pioneering ads. Now they focus on more meaningful uses of the vehicle rather than just using a sexual approach to appeal to their audience.

De Beers- Now and Then

Diamonds did not used to be popular 50 or 60 years ago until advertising shaped them into what they are today. One advertsing agency in particular took this product that was once considered a worthless stone and made the image of a diamond that were are familar with today having it pose as a symbol with meaning and status. The agency that takes credit for this dramatic change in societal opinion is N.W Ayers and son which was soon taken over by DDB. However, they both represent the company De Beers. In N.W Ayers early work they hired well respected french artists such as Picasso, Matisse and Edzard to contribute to the illustration and copy work of the ad. Soon after Gerety proposed the line "A diamond is forever" obviously associating itself with love, marriage and a lifetime's worth of commitment to your loved one. With this idea in mind De Beers came out with the ad "How can you make two month's salary last forever?" Then under stating their famous coined phrase "A diamond is forever." An example of a more contemporary piece of work is DDB spelling out "A diamond is forever" in roses and over time watching the roses die making diamonds far more superior than roses.

My Agency Rating for the 2009 Superbowl...

My Winner Agency:
* Goodby, Silverstein and Partners

My Loser Agency:
* TBWA/ Chiat/ Day

Mixed feelings...
*DDB

I LOVED these 3 Super Bowl Commercials...

IN MY OPINION... THE 3 BEST 2009 SUPERBOWL COMMERCIALS! Enjoy :)

1. I do not think that TBWA/ Chiat/ Day was the best agency overall for the super bowl but I do think that this Pedigree commercial called "Crazy Pets" made the top three. I thought that it was so outrageous it was funny. I thought that their abstract approach worked and was entertaining.

2. I was a huge fan of this Cheetos commercial by Goody agency. I thought it was well done and LOVED how Goodbye brought back Chester Cheetah. They went back to their "old school" roots, which I think made this commercial an overall success.

3. I think that the "Hang in there Jack" commercials were the most successful. This commercial only ran once and it had the most extreme response rate. This commercial was funny and simple, nothing too extravagant which is why I think it worked.

The 3 WORST Super Bowl Commercials: in my opinion...

1. I found the career builder commercial to be very obnoxious and repetitive. I know that they were trying to take an original approach and this ad gets very mixed opinions but I feel that it didn't work all I wanted to do was change the channel. I think that they could have gone about this commercial in a different way that didn't leave the audience with a headache. This was definately one that I thought was one of the worst superbowl 2009 commercials.

2. The Sobe Lizard Lake commerical by the Arnell group also earned a spot on the three worst superbowl commercials. This commercial was offered in 3D HD format which I feel is a little over the top. There was no substance to this commercial and was far too high tech for my liking. It had such a high production value that I didn't get anything from it.

3. The Pepsi commercials by TBWA/ Chiat/ Day were also top three on my worst super bowl commercials list. I wasn't impressed by TBWA's approach and felt like I didn't get anything from the commercial. It was a very shallow and felt that they could have advertised Pepsi in a far more provocative way.
